A documentary about José Larraz: ON VAMPYRES AND OTHER SYMPTOMS

“Last night I dreamt that they had returned, I have the feeling that something is about to happen”. The last horror script written by José Ramón Larraz (Barcelona, 1928) alongside some excerpts from his films immerses us in the dreamy and mysterious world of this author, investigating the origins of his lifelong love of fear. His 2009 trip to the International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia (Sitges) to receive an honorary prize for his cult movie “Vampyres” –and for the whole of his career as well- shows Larraz as a craftsman of stories, but also reveals his own to be quite the material of one of his own fictions.
-Premier on May 7, 2011, at the International Film Festival Documenta Madrid.
- Selected at the Internacional Film Festival Documenta Madrid , in Official Competition (May, 2011).
- Selected at the SITGES International Fantastic and Horror Film Festival of Catalonia (October 2011).
- Participating at IDFA Market of the International Documentary Film Festival of Amsterdam . (November, 2011).

Looks like an interesting documentary, hopefully it will appear on DVD soon. There was another Larraz documentary on TV that was shown here in England some years ago before the screening of Black Candles which was very interesting. I was lucky enough to see Vampyres on the big screen with Mr Larraz and Marianne Morris in attendance, what a great movie!
